mail coach /
Holland and Holland coach with drivers bench and three others, 2 on roof, dos-a-dos, but with trunk space between and `guards seat'. It has proper `telegraph' or `mail' springs and there is a part crest of lion rampart and crowned head on the door. Harness with similar nickel embossing on the blinkers is stored inside the coach. The rear hung doors feature both glass and solid windows.
Painted black, blue and red. Wooden wheels, painted red and black, with metal rims. Two brass carriage lamps in situ. Three seats along top. Driver’s footboard to the front, painted red on the underside. Axels and undercarriage also painted in red. Possibly a stage or mail coach. Motif (lion rampant and crowned head) on the two sides and the back panels of the body. Interior upholstered in cream; walls, ceiling and seat backs. Seat cushions (2) appear to be missing. A decorative strip of textiles with a tassle on each door interior. Sash windows. With a small decorative ivory piece on the bottom. By Holland and Holland, Coachbuilders, London.
