Jug. Transfer printed in Dublin. Glazed pottery; Staffordshire cream-ware; transfer printed in puce, bust of the Duke of Leinster & Leinster (& verse); inscribed.
Straight neck and pear-shaped body. The neck painted with a floral wreath in reddish brown, on one side of the body a transfer-print in puce of a bust of the Duke of Leinster; below "his Grace the Duke of Leinster" and above "Printed & sold by Walsh & Eardley, Dublin". On the other side transfer printed in puce, the Leinster arms and below "The Duke of Leinster, Marquis of Kildare, Earl of Offaley and Governor of Kildare County, Viscount Leinster of Taplow in England, Born March 3rd 1749. Died Oct. 20th 1804. A man who was universally beloved and will be universally regretted, a tender husband and indulgent father, a sturdy patriot and universal Benefactor. Foibles he had none; for all his actions were as dignified as his titles were noble". Four sprigs in blue on body. Walsh & Eardley are mentioned in Dublin directories as China and Glass sellers, 1801 - 1803.;
