Eamonn Ceannt, gold medal. Awarded to Eamonn Ceannt for uilleann piping, 1906.
1.3 inchs in diameter, with small arched loop for suspension. Cast. the obverse bears ornate zoomorphic 'Celtic' design in centre within a narrow raised band bearing a design of recurring circles all within a border decorated in an abstract 'Celtic' mode with the word OIREACHTAS (the 'h' a dot of aspiration in the actual old style lettering) above. The reverse shows - across (engraved - the 'h' here designates the aspiration dot in the actual text) : 1906/DO BRONNADH/AN BONN SO AR/EAMONN CEANNT/DO RUG BUAIDH/IBPIOBAIREACHT AG AN/OIREACHTAS.
