Memorial card for the Manchester Martyrs, 1867. Memorial card in black and white, 9.5 inches by 7.2 inches. Machine impressed low relief border of two angels and symbols of sorrow - palms and weeping willows and figure of woman kneeling at gravestone. In center of relief - a memorial card proper pasted. Inscribed on the card: "Of your charity pray for the souls of William Phillip Allen, aged 19 years; Michael O'Brien, aged 30 years; Michael Larkin, aged 30 years. The three unfortunate young men who were executed at the New Bailey, Salford, on Saturday November 23, 1867. Their profound love of 'poor old Ireland' and the Fenian cause, induced the to attack the police van in Hyde Road, Manchester, on the 18th of September, and release Colonel Kelly, and Captain Deasey from custody. They were tried by special commission and sentenced to death on Friday November 1st. May they rest in peace. God save old Ireland".;
