Uniform of General Michael Collins. Irish Volunteer Uniform altered to Defence Forces (Irish Free State) uniform circa 1923. Comprising: TUNIC: plain green cloth, four patch pockets, open at throat, with lapels, four green leather buttons down front, smaller green leather button on each shoulder strap. On outside edge of each shoulder strap three bars of gilt tape of braid in order of width, 1/2 inch, 3/10 inch 1/2 inch. On each cuff three bars of gilt tape or braid in order of width, 4/5 inch, 3/10 inch, 4/5 inch. No maker's tag or other mark of identification. BLACKS: plain green cloth but differing from cloth in tunic; four pockets, two side, one front and one back. Buttons on slacks and on back and front pockets, grey-green in colour, marked TODD BURNS & CO. LTD. DUBLIN.;
