statue / Charles Stewart Parnell

Staffordshire pottery figure of Charles Stewart Parnell, about 1881. Bareheaded, in Greek (? attempted 'Celtic') dress with bare arms and legs. A heavy club in his left hand and resting on the ground. His right hand holding up a green flag with the Union Jack in top corner and a harp in the centre. Apparently adapted from some figure of Hercules holding up the Nemean Lion.;
