shotgun bayonet / 1916 Rising, Mount Street

Shotgun bayonet with wing nuts to attach to gun barrel. Made in Dublin, 1916, and used in Mount Street area. The blade is about 11 1/2 inches in length and ground to an edge on both sides. The holder to which it is rivetted is made specially so that it may be attached to a single barrel shot gun. It is made of thin flexible sheet iron which tightens on the gun barrel as the two thumb screws are tightened.;
