scarf / John McLoughlin, Royal Irish Rifles, 1918

Hand knitted brown woollen scarf worn in trenches in WWI by Private John McLoughlin 6680 Royal Irish Rifles. According to family research, John had been injured on 7th July 1916 at the Somme. He had received serious injuries to his spine and later died on 22nd September 1918. Officially aged 21 (he actually was 19).;
