Officer's full dress tunic of 5th Militia Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, c.1902 to 1914. Officer's scarlet full dress tunic of 5th Militia Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, c.1902 to 1914 with dark blue facings and gold lace. There are fourteen large gilt buttons and two small versions on the shoulders, none are missing. On each buttons is a raised grenade, nearing a King's crown on the ball, surrounded by the title ROYAL DUBLIN FUSILIERS, there is a rim around the buttons' edge. The maker's name Jennens and Co., London, appears on the back of the large buttons but not the smaller buttons which are screw in types. The tubular gold shoulder cords are both missing silver wire crowns, these made up Colonel's rank insignia, also the collar badges are missing. The gold lace is of the shamrock pattern. Notes. The tunic was made by J.B. Johnstone, Dublin and London for Colonel H.T. Finlay, dated 1903 No. 1582. In 1881 the County Dublin Militia became the 5th Militia Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers.
