Print of portrait of Redan Massey as a boy, depicted on crutches. William Godfrey Dunham Massy, Lieutenant 19th Regiment Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. Born 1838. Matriculated at Dublin University 1854. Commanded the Grenadier Company of his regiment at the last assault on Sebastopol 8 September 1855. Lay dangerously wounded in the Redan for 14 hours amongst the Russians, brought into camp on the 9 September and was unable to leave his hut for six months. With an extract from a verse written by Mrs Gore and published in the Dublin Evening Mail, 14 November 1855.
