Medal of the Dunlavin Light Dragoons (Volunteer Co. Wicklow), 1777. Silver, hallmarked Dublin 1827-8. Obverse : Crossed swords, crown above, harp below, in angels L and D. Above, DUNLAVIN. Below on scroll, P. BOURKE. All within an incised border of a repeat of an arc enclosing a pellet. Reverse: Around above, COLN. M. SAUNDERS. Across, COMND/ MERIT/ 1777 interspersed with wavy lines. With raised rim, loop and suspension. The rim stamped with Hibernia, the harp crowned, the date letter G for 1827-8 and the makers mark JS possibly that of John Sekleton. The rim is possibly the later addition. Diameter 1.7 ins.;
