Framed photograph of oil painting: Review of the Volunteers in Belfast 27th August 1804. Titled 'Entry of Lord Hardwick into Belfast as Lord Lieutenant Review of the Volunteers, August 27th 1804. Size 13 7/8s" by 9 3/8s". Underneath is the text - The original picture was painted by Thomas Robinson of Armagh in 1807 and exhibited by the artist in The Old Exchange Rooms in July of that year. Being disgusted by the want of patronage by some Belfast people, he altered the background, which originally depicted Donegall Place, to an imaginary one. The painting, which contains portraits of many of the prominant citizens of the town in 1804, was kept by the artisit and eventually passed into the hands of his son, the Reverand Thomas Romney Robinson D.D., of Armagh Observatory, who presented it to the Belfast Harbour Commissioners in 1852. The painting now hangs in the Harbour Office in Belfast.;
