jacket / Marquis MacSwiney, 1915

Irish Volunteer uniform tunic, Officer's, as worn by the Marquis MacSwiney, pre-1916. Jacket - plain green cloth, four patch pockets, open at throat with lapels, four buttons down front (each inscribed harp and 'I.V.'), button on each flap and on either epaulette. Neck breast and shoulders : (see illustrations in Register). Two brass wire belt supports. Condition practically as new. Maker's tag - 'Lane & Phillips, Tailors, 37 Nassau Street, Dublin, date 5.3.1915. No 7175, The Marquess MacSwiney'. Breeches - plain green cloth, riding breeches, green cord laces at knees, metal buttons with, incised on back 'Lane & Phillips, Dublin'. Cap - plain green cloth, piped dark green around top and band, harp worked olive green thread in front; black leather band over this with plain gilt button either end.;
