Bantry Bay medal 1797 diestruck in silver by William Mossop (1751-1805). Obverse: the crown over BANTRY GARRISON. Around above FRIENDLY ASSOCIATION. All within a husk border and a raised rim. Reverse: three ships on a stormy sea, that on left listing heavily to right. From the edge upper right between the last two words of the legend Aeolus is blowing on the ships. Around above AFFLAVIT DEUS ET DISSIPANTUR. In exergue across MOSSOP JAN MDCCXCVII. Raised flat border. Hinged loop for suspension. Engraved on rim LIEUT THOS PEPPER ROYAL MEATH LIGHT INFANTRY.;
