commemorative bowl / 1798 Rebellion

1798 Rebellion commemorative sugar bowl, white pottery glazed with decoration, 1898. Evidently produced and sold in 1898 to coincide with with the centenary celebrations. Transfer printed design of a harp on the strings of which appear the figure 98, crossed pikes behind the harp and sprays of shamrocks on either side. This design appears twice on the outside of the bowl. Mouth diameter 5.5 inches, Base diameter 3.75 inches. Height 3 inches. No mark or indication of origin.;
