Quill pen in case, relating to Daniel O'Connell's dismissal as MP, 1836. Quill pen in leather bound case bearing a silver plate on which is engraved "In the House of Commons/on the Evening of Monday the 16th of May 1836/The Clerk of the Crown;/ERASED WITH THIS PEN:/THE NAMES OF DANIEL O'CONNELL & EDWARD S. RUTHVEN./from the Election Return for the City of Dublin,/in which they had wrongfully inserted;/on the 17th of January 1835./ and by command of the SPEAKER inserted those of/GEORGE ALEXANDER HAMILTON & JOHN BEATTY WEST ESQRS". The donor was a grandson of Lady Gregory.;
