Coolgreany Eviction Album, 1887
Photograph in album depicting the evictions at Coolgreany, on the Brooke Estate, North Co. Wexford, 1887. Group photograph, including Pat Kavanagh, John Tierney and O’Kinsella, taken at Fortress Kavanagh, Croghan. The gate where Kinsella was murdered. The girls who went to jail for scalding the Emergency Men with hot water. November 1887. Same scene as previous photograph, taken moments later with no crowd in background.
Part of an album containing forty-seven photographs of Irish eviction scenes of the 1880s. Front cover missing.
A copy of this album is also in the National Library of Ireland, where is is catalogued as having been compiled by a T. Mallacy, also probably the photographer, who gave it to Fr Farrelly, who was involved in the Plan of Campaign in the Wexford area. His grand-niece donated the album to the NLI in 1992.;
