Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. P.J. Condon, also George O’Dell. Married, a builder, late Captain of the W.S. Volunteers, age 36, height 5 foot 11 ¼ inches, complexion sallow, hair brown turning grey, eyes blue, nose and mouth regular, small visage, slender make. Photograph numbered 4.
A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
