Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. Edward Walsh, single, a clerk, late Corporal 2nd Brigade 8th Battalion Royal Artillery, age 31. Height 5 foot 7 ¾ inches, complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, short nose, ordinary mouth, round full forehead, stout make. Photograph numbered 8. A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
