Fenian photograph, one of 45 contained in a photograph album. Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. Maurice Fitzharris, single, late Captain U.S. Volunteers, age 26. Height 5 foot 7 inches, complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes hazel, nose a little crooked, mouth regular, oval visage, stout make. Photograph numbered 12. This is the same man as depicted in the photograph (same photograph) numbered 19 (Edward McGuigan), but with some differing description details. A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
