Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. Daniel Cornelius Moynihan, single, Major 2nd U.S. Infantry, age 22. Height 5 foot 9 inches, complexion fair, hair (curly) fair, eyes blue, rather sharp nose, regular mouth, round visage, stout make, small mole on left side of chin. Photograph numbered 17. A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
