Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. Edward McClaskey, married, shoemaker, age 30. Height 5 foot 9 inches, complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes grey, regular nose, high mouth, long visage, average make, cut on forehead, small finger of both hands crooked. Photograph numbered 24. A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
