Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. Michael G. Nolan, single, clerk, age 27. Height 5 foot 9 inches, complexion fresh, hair black, eyes brown, ordinary nose, large mouth, oval visage, stout make. Photograph numbered 30. A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
