Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. Aiden Lacey, single, painter, age 26. Height 6 foot 1 ½ inches, complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, nose and mouth regular, round visage, stout make, small mole on right cheek. Photograph numbered 33. A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
