Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. Edward O’Donovan, alias Edward Donovan alias Edward Hunt. Single, Trinity College student, age 21. Height 5 foot 9 ¼ inches, complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes hazel, nose and mouth regular, oval visage, slender make. Photograph numbered 44. A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
