Photograph, with handwritten description and personal details of a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, or Fenian Brotherhood, arrested c. 1868. James Truris, single, Assistant to this father, a Publican, age 19. Height 5 foot 6 inches, complexion fair, hair and eyes brown, nose regular, mouth small, oval visage, stout make. Photograph numbered 46. A handwritten note at the back of the album reads ‘These photographs, except number 2 who was arrested in Manchester, were taken while the persons named, many of them it will be seen have held commissions in the U.S Army, were in custody in Ireland during the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act, about 1868.;
