Irish silver presentation tray, Dublin, c. 1759. Probably by Samuel Walker.
Inscription in centre reads ‘Nicholas Boylan, Esq., of Hilltown House by 1100 Repealers of his district to record their disapprobation of the Arbitrary conduct of the Government in dismissing him from the commission of the peace for exercising the constitutional right of the subject and to endite their admiration of his eminent private virtues as well as his high toned Public Spirit and uncompromising patriotism, A. D. 1843’.
Chased with scrolling foliage around the inscription and an outer pierced and chased vine border, on vine-moulded legs.;
