relic / Lord Edward Fitzgerald, 1791
Shawl / scarf given by Lord Edward Fitzgerald with label ‘he gave me this when he returned from Paris 1791’. Reported in the acquisition paperwork as ‘Pamela’s scarf’. Purple, cream or buff and pink silk.
Part of a collection of personal items relating to Lord Edward Fitzgerald from the Campbell Family, descended from Lady Pamela Campbell, the daughter of Lord Edward and Lady Pamela Fitzgerald. This is more likely to have been a gift from Edward to a sister, possibly Sophia, as he did not meet Pamela Simms in Paris until 1792.;
