Letter on War Office headed paper to P.K. Sproule, next of kin to the late Anna Sproule, dated 5 July 1920. Informing that the Royal Red Cross (2nd Class) medal has been awarded to Miss Anna Sproule, and requesting that he receive it.
Part of the paperwork relating to the awarding of medals to Sister Anna Sproule, 1916. Accompanying note from Elizabeth C. Ludlow (Sproule’s niece) - Sister Anna Sproule was night superintendent of Sir Patrick Dun’s Hospital, Grand Canal Street, Dublin, at the time of the 1916 Rising. She went out, under fire, to help the wounded of both sides to Mount Street Bridge where the Sherwood Foresters, an English Regiment, coming from England via Dun Laoghaire, had been ambushed by the Sin Feiners. She was awarded the Royal Red Cross 2nd Class by the British War Office, and the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade for Gallantry displayed by her.;
