rifle / Aud, 1916
Mosin Rifle, first adopted by the Russians in 1896. The donor's father, Mr. Hood, was the Commander of HMS Bluebell, stationed at Cobh, when the Aud was intercepted on 21st April 1916. This was part of the consignment of rifles intended for the 1916 rebellion.
Fixed foresight and graduated rear sight. Fully stocked with metal rimrod. Bolt action with 5 cartridge magazine. Serial number 155050, with inscription on top of barrel behind rear sight. Serial number also on bolt action. Strap swivel at bolt action. Strap swivel at front of magazine. Socket bayonet.;
