commemorative jug / Fr. Michael Murphy of Wexford, 1798
Pottery jug, probably Staffordshire, Dublin decorated c. 1898. Coarse, white pottery, glazed. Cylinder body, wide mouth, short lip and broken handle which appears to have been rectangular. Both sides printed in light blue with representation of Fr. Michael Murphy of Wexford in 1798. Fr. Murphy in clerical attire, coat, vest, breeches and gaiters, stands with arms raised and eyes heavenward. Behind him the smoke of battle and four volunteers, bearing pike, sword and musket. Below:- '1798, the death of Father Michael Murphy'. Beneath rim, a band of shamrock.;
