SAUCE BOAT. Dublin, c.1747; mark of Thomas Walker. Cast oval lipped form, resting on a bed of naturalistic rocks rising from an oval base cast and chased to resemble choppy waves, body applied with shells and fish and chased with leaves, a bearded face framed in acanthus leaves in relief under the lip, gadrooned wavy rim, the handle, emerging beneath a wave-form canopy, cast as the sea-god Triton blowing a trumpet and holding a bladed implement. 20.32 cm (8 in) high; 26 cm (10G in) wide (illustrated);
