Medal awarded in 1941 to participants in the War of Independence, 1919 to 1921. Awarded to Seán O'Keeffe, 3rd Battalion, B Company of Irish Volunteers (Boland's Mills Garrison in 1916). Bronze. The obverse depicts the figure of a soldier of the Irish Republican Army, surrounded by the arms of the four provinces of Ireland and with the words 'Cogadh na Saoirse' ('War of Independence') beneath and 'Éire' behind. The ribbon bears the 'Comhrac' ('Combat') bar, indicating that the recipient saw active service.;
