Postcard photograph of John Loder, c. 1945. Loder was born William John Muir Lowe, the son of Brigadier General William Henry Muir Lowe. Loder was his father's Aid de Camp in Dublin during the week of the Easter Rising, 1916, and was present at the surrender. He had previous served with the 15th Hussars at Gallipoli in 1915, and was later part of the Battle of the Somme in July 1916. After the war he became an actor, and starred in a number of Hollywood films in the United States. This publicity postcard depicts Loder posed with a shotgun, is signed 'John Loder', and is addressed to a Maria Mooroka in Honolulu on 2 February 1945, from Los Angelus, and is stamped with the generic message 'Thank you for your letter. I sincerely appreciate hearing rfom my screen friends. I would like to answer all of them personally but am prevented by lack of time. Best wishes John Loder'.;
