location certificate / Fenian Raid, 1870, Ontario

Province of Ontario Location Certificate and Land Grant, for 160.5 acres of land in the township of Lucas, dated 15 April 1907. Made out to veteran Henry Pulty Timmerman, Bandsman in the Canadian Militia (47th Battalion, Ontario), who served against the Fenians in 1870. The attacks and threatened attacks against Canada between 1865 & 1870, kept the authorities in a state of apprehension, strained Anglo-American relations and led to what was described as "Fenian Fever" in the maiden.;
