tunic / Other Rank’s Tunic of the Mounted Escort c.1932-1949

Other Rank's tunic of the Mounted Escort, Irish Defence Forces, c.1932-1949. Other rank's sapphire blue tunic of the Mounted Escort, popularly known as the Blue Hussars, with saffron yellow mohair braid. The white metal buttons on the tunic are not correct, originally there were five saffron coloured olivets and a small brass button on each shoulder strap. When the Escort was disbanded in 1949 the uniforms were sold. A band bought some of them. Both the skirts and the cuffs have been shortened to accomodate a smaller person. Inside the collar a tailor's label is sewn - E. J. Lee.;
