War of Independence General Service Medal c.1916-1921 in bronze. The obverse has an Irish Volunteer with the word Eire behind surrounded by the arms of the four provinces. At the base the inscription Cogadhna na Saoirse (War of Independence). On the reverse a laurel wreath. The bronze ribbon fitting has a celtic design. This medal is suspended from an ornate clasp and bar with celtic gesign, the bar bearing the word Comhrac (struggle). The small bronze ring at the top of the medal has become detached form the larger ring. The ribbon is black and tan.;
