Photograph of a Model of The Rocket locomotive, 1829. This sectional model represents the famous locomotive in the form in which it was originally built, with the cylinders attached to the boiler in a steeply inclined position. The tender with its water barrel is also shown. Famous as being the successful locomotive in the competition at Rainhill in October 1829, for a prize of £500 offered by the Directors of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Company.
