The uniform, webbing and helmet is consistent with a British Army soldier's c. 1916 (i.e. World War I) The soldiers holds a bayoneted rifle in front of him, the rifle similar to a standard issue Lee Enfield. The background is a rural scene, possibly representative of the Western Front.;
