master key / Lincoln Jail, 1919

Master key of Lincoln Jail. Made there by Peter de Loughry of Kilkenny, with which Eamon de Valera, Sean McGarry and Sean Milroy were able to escape on 4th February 1919. Two keys, iron, slightly rusted, with label - "Given to E. de Valera by Willie McMahon to whom it was given by Harry Boland within a couple of days of the Lincoln escape. Signed W. McMahon" and "This I believe is the real Lincoln key. Harry had a duplicate made I think for de Loughry".;
