presentation brooch / Irish National Aid, 1918

Irish National Aid brooch, silver. Maker's mark stamped on back (H. & H. Hibernia, Hopkins & Hopkins), the harp crowned and the letter 'A' for 1916. Inscribed on the back is " Do Catitlin Ni Lalaigh O Muintir Choiste Chiste Conganta Eireannach mar cuimhne ar an obair do rinne si ar son an Ciste ud Lunndain, 30 la Eanair 1918". This translates as "To Caitlin Ni Lalaigh (Catherine or Kathleen Lally) from the Irish National Aid for her aid work carried out in London on 30 January 1918".
