buttonhole badge / Peter Coates, 1916 Participants Commemoration, 1936

1916 participant's commemorative button-hole badge in enamelled silver, which was presented to Peter Coates of the Irish Citizen Army by the 1916 Easter Week Men's Association of Ireland in 1936. In outline a map of Ireland, showing 1916 in silver through the green enamel on top, an armed Volunteer outside the GPO as the centrepiece and the slogan 'Eireochaimid Aris' in silver through the enamel on stand at back. On back stand is 1916 in green enamel. Stamped on reverse with maker's mark J & MCO, Hibernia, the harp crowned and the date letter S for 1934.;
