1916 military pass issued to Mr. Samuel Gresham Byrne, uncle of donor. White paper with canvas backing. Written in ink: 'Please pass S.G. Byrne (bearer of this) of 13 Conyngham Rd. for today 27.4.16, J.L. Howard Richards, 2nd Lieut. 3/1st D.L.O.Y. O I.C. Piquet Parker Gate'. In another hand is added 'Lt. E.V. Knox O.C. No.6 Picquet Pass also doctor with bearer of this on return, E.V.K.' In the same hand the date 27.4.16 is crossed out and 30.4.16 substituting under initials E.V.K.;
