Collection of private papers of Patrick Joseph Keane, of 55 Harrington Street, Hampstead Road, London NW1, regarding his application for a military pension for his service from 1916 to 1923, He was a member of D Coy., Batt. IV, Dublin Brigade from 1917, Company 2 from March 1918, arrested in 1920, released at the general amnesty, and reported back to Batt. IV. at that point. Interred at Ballykinlar (1920-21) and Hare Park Camp at the Curragh (1922-23). 1.Letter from the Department of Defence granting request for a Service Certificate. Dated 30 May 1938. 2. Record of Service, issued by the Department of Defence, 19 April 1938. Reference no. 43986. 4. Military Service Pensions Act 1934 Service Certificate of Patrick Joseph Keane, dated 26 May 1938. Reference no. 34SP/45061. 5. Award certificate issued by the Department of Defence, dated 14 June 1938, for twenty-five pounds, five shillings and seven pence per annum. 6. Letter to Mrs Keane from Margaret M. Pearse, dated 12 December 1945. On Seanad Eireann headed paper. Referring to a matter in which Mrs Keane has asked for assistance. 7. Army Pensions Act, 1971, Award Certificate, for a widow’s pension for Mrs Gertrude Keane of 8 Harold’s Cross Cottages, Dublin 6, wife of Patrick Keane. For fifty-two punds and twenty pence per annum. Dated 17 July 1972. 8. Note dated 15 Feb 1973 (?) listing years from 1916 to 1923, P.J. Keane’s Hut number (Hut 28) at Hare Park, and Ballykinlar 1920-21 and Hare Park 1922-23. 9. Handwritten patriotic prose re Wolfe Tone, titled ‘Irish History in Dublin Streets (65 Thomas Street), by Sean Buddies, 469, Hut 28, B Line, Hare Park Camp, Curragh. Dated 11/5/1923. 10. Pass issued to Patrick Keane, Intelligence Unit, from the Four Courts Barracks, allowing him to enter and leave the Barracks, Dated 4 May 1922. Permanent pass no. 134. Signed by Capt. Sean T. Lemass. 11. Internment Order for Patrick Keane. Order Under Regulation no. 4 B of the Restoration of Order In Ireland Regulations. For the internment of Patrick Keane of 8a Clare Terrace, Dublin 8 in Ballykinlar Camp. Dated 25 January 1921. Signed (stamp) by Hamar Greenwood. 12.
