hanging rope / Galway Gaol, 19th century

Piece of rope, said to be from the hanging gibbet of Galway Gaol, 19th century. Given to Malachy Burke on 29 July 1941, when the property was passed from the ownership of the County Council to the Galway Diocesan Trustees.
